I was recently able to be a part of the first inaugural tour of the Hodo Soy Beanery in Oakland.
The new facility is located at 2923 Adeline St. in Oakland. Hodo means "Good Bean" - highlighting the companies philosophy of creating good product, good community, and good health. All of their soy comes from Farms here in the US, and is all organic certified.
This is Yuba, the skin of Tofu. They use a process of steaming to create the skin. This is an energy saving, labor intensive practice, but well worth the investment for the results it yields and the long-term benefit for the environment.

After the factory tour, we got to meet Minh Tsai, the Tofu Master, who's passion for his product and overall friendliness were evident through and through. We got to sample many delicious dishes created using Tofu, and even tried Tofu "hot off the press" -- the freshest Tofu I've ever tasted.

Tours are held every other Wednesday at 12:30. The $10 is well worth the experience and the taste! Be a part of this exciting new facility that is contributing to the local Oakland scene in more ways than one, its definitely the "good bean".
